Hi, I’m Sofia, a London-based designer and illustrator specialising in book cover design.

I’ve spent over a decade working across bookshops and publishing houses, and now freelance with various publishers and other book-trade companies on book covers, illustration, marketing design, display graphics and branding.

For me, book cover design sits somewhere between design and art. It needs to be utilitarian and evoke emotions at the same time.

Much of my inspiration comes from the everyday things around me: colour, shapes, textures, packaging, films, photographs and sometimes even my shoes. The colour palette for Our Moon, for example, came from looking down at my feet.

My work moves between bold colours and soft pastels, digital and analogue, illustration and collage. Outside of work, I’m happiest with a sketchbook and my POSCAs and markers. You can read more about my creative process in these '10 Questions' with I Need A Book Cover.

I’m always up for interesting projects, in publishing or beyond. If you’ve got something exciting in mind, get in touch.
